Asus has launched a range of new tablets at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event and a number of them now come with full support for 4G LTE networking, which should please those hungry for faster internet access whilst on the move.
The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity family will be the flagship 4G LTE tablets from this manufacturer and in order to give you much more than high data speeds each comes equipped with range-topping hardware.
The primary Transformer Pad Infinity comes with both 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as backwards compatibility with older 3G networks so you are not left out in the cold should you move away from next-gen coverage.
A display with a resolution of 1920x1200, which is higher than full HD 1080p, will give the Transformer Pad Infinity plenty of pixels to play with whilst showcasing multimedia content either online or from its integrated flash memory.
A dual core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.5GHz will help the 4G networking pull in data at speeds of between 50Mbs-100Mbps depending on coverage levels, according to a statement made by Asus.
To follow on from last year`s Transformer Pad Prime, the Infinity will be wrapped in a slender metallic chassis which is just 8.5 millimetres thick. It will also have an eight megapixel camera on the rear with an LED flash and the Android 3.2 operating system. Asus is promising that an update to bring Android 4.0 to the Infinity will be rolling out as soon as possible, although it failed to set a concrete date for this.
A slightly more affordable alternative to the Infinity is the Asus Transformer Pad 300, which is deliberately being marketed at a younger audience who value technology but still want to save cash when it comes to buying a new device.
The 300 series tablets will still be available with 4G LTE connectivity, as well as 3G and Wi-Fi onboard. You also get the new Tegra 3 quad core processor from Nvidia, presumably clocked at 1.5GHz in order to make the Android 4.0 operating system feel slick and lag-free during use.
An eight megapixel camera on the rear plus a 1.2 megapixel secondary snapper on the front round out the Transformer Pad 300`s list of specifications, along with the ability to record 1080p high definition video if you so choose.
There is no doubt that tablets really need to offer the option of 4G connectivity if they are to remain relevant in the modern market. With smartphones now widely available with such networking prowess onboard, the larger displays of tablets deserve to be graced with all that 4G net access can deliver. Asus has clearly latched onto this idea before many of its rivals, as you will note that the technical limitations of Apple`s tablets and smartphones mean that you cannot invest in 4G-ready iPhone deals despite the fact that the network infrastructure is in place.
